Literary Magazine:
The Scrivener  The Scrivener is Pleasant Valley High School’s literary magazine.  PVHS publishes one issue in the spring of every year.  Early in the fall of each school year, The Scrivener begins its annual call for student submissions.  The magazine accepts short stories, poems, literary essays, and other various forms of creative writing from classroom projects and assignments.  The Scrivener has also published literary-interest articles on topics such as Pleasant Valley Voices, an artful creative writing production done in 2008 by Dr. Pete Pappalardo, and Poetry Out Loud, a national recitation contest that PV students have performed and placed well in over the past couple of years.  Additionally, for the past five years, The Scrivener has held a poetry contest, open to all students at the high school.  The winning poem and a bio of the winning poet, with photo, is published in that year’s issue.  In the next few years, one goal of The Scrivener is to try online publishing, which could mean increasing the number of issues, and also interest.
