SCHOOL TO CAREER ACADEMY COURSE

N HAVE ASSISTANCE IN PREPARING WINNING RESUMES?
   
N IMPROVE JOB INTERVIEW SKILLS?

 You can obtain all these skills by signing up to take the SCHOOL TO CAREER ACADEMY COURSE.  The course will assist students to develop the skills necessary to make effective decisions, demonstrate effective human relation skills and apply proper business etiquette to realistic situations.  Students will apply training and knowledge to actual work situations and evaluate their job progress.  Members of our business community will play an active roll in this course. 

The course is available for only Pleasant Valley High School student’s grades 9 to 12.  The course will run for 10 days after school from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. for a total of 15 hours.  Students who successfully pass the course will be issued a certificate and could possibly receive preferential interviews for current jobs.

Identification of self knowledge, interests and goals.
Distinguish between education achievement and career planning.
Locate, evaluate and interpret career information.
Identify and demonstrate skills needed to seek, obtain and maintain jobs.
Understand need for positive attitudes/effective human relation skills on the job.
Develop and apply good grooming and business etiquette on the job.
Apply safe working practices and procedures on the job.
Identify and evaluate job progress.
Job Fair

ASSESSMENT
Students must attend all classes.
Students must maintain a job portfolio.
Students must maintain a journal.
Students must participate in the Job Fair.

STUDENT GRADE
Certificate upon successful completion of the 15-hour course.
