What is an atlas?

• A collection of maps

• Example:  National Geographic Atlas of the World

• Contains maps of states, countries, the world

• Contains table of contents and an index

How do I use it?

• Use for location information, earth features, land area, bodies of water

• Use index in the back (alphabetical) to find maps

• Special section:  "How to Read a Map"
