45 students at Pleasant Valley High School participated in the American Mathematics Contest 10/12. The contest was held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. The students competed for local, regional and national student and school awards. The contest, which covers high school mathematics, is given in participating schools. Its purpose is to spur interest in mathematics and develop talent through the excitement of friendly competition at problem solving in a timed format. Top scorers at Pleasant Valley High School for the AMC 12 test were (far left): 3rd place: Kristina Adams, 2nd place: Eric Miller, and the school winner: Bryan Harvey. Shavonne Liddic, High School Mathematics Department Chair and the top scorers for the AMC 10 test were: School Winner: Joseph O’Connor, 2nd place: Brianna Kish, and 3rd place Sara Kron.
