STREAM at PVI
The Pleasant Valley Intermediate School has been incorporating STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) into our school in many ways. We have developed STREAM carts that each team of teachers have access to that are loaded with fantastic activities. The students have access to robotics, 3D pens, as well as various other building and design tools. PVI has also developed a C.R.E.A.T.E. Lab to allow imaginative engagement and have our students develop their creativity with confidence.
The PVI librarian developed a STREAM Team that meets in the library once per six-day cycle, during the 5th and 6th grade lunch periods. 5th graders are focusing on designing and building cards; while 6th graders are creating parks. The PVI Library has hosted a cardboard Gingerbread House Contest to encourage students to put their STEM skills to use at home while creating a non-edible masterpiece.
Our school assembled a team of our teachers across all grade levels and subjects to plan for STREAM integration. This team is also researching and evaluating new and current STREAM resources and practices to further enhance our student learning.
