Future Ready Index

In 2018, the Pennsylvania Department of Education took an enormous step forward in recognizing that standardized test scores do not define our students nor the work of the schools they attend. The Future Ready PA Index is a tool to provide student and school success using three color-coded categories: academic performance, student progress and college and career readiness. The overarching outcome of the Index is to provide the public with a more comprehensive view of student educational success.

The three categories and their components are listed below:

Academic Performance: State Assessment Measures

• • Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA)
  • Keystone Exams
  • Pennsylvania Value-Added Assessment System (PVAAS) growth data

Student Progress: On-Track Measures

• • English Language Proficiency
  • Regular attendance
  • Early Indicators of Success:
    • Grade 3 Reading performance
    • Grade 7 Math performance

College and Career Readiness:

• • Career Standards Benchmarks
  • High School Graduation Rate
  • Industry-Based Learning Assessments
  • Rigorous Courses of Study
  • Posy Secondary Transition to School, Military or Work
