Welcome to Pleasant Valley School District Transportation Department Guidelines
Since 2008, the Pleasant Valley School District has contracted with First Student, Inc. to provide transportation services. Below, please find contact information for both the school district's liaison and First Student's onsite terminal. Please also feel free to access additional transportation information by selecting the links to the left.
The Pleasant Valley School District will provide bus information to parents/guardians and students through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. School bus information is accessible online and linked to a student’s PowerSchool record. Parents/guardians can log in to their portal and click the Transportation link to view bus number, bus stop location as well as pickup and drop off times. Students can access this information as well, through their PowerSchool student account.
Please check your child’s transportation information for accuracy closer to the first day of school to ensure bus number and/or pickup/drop off times have not changed due to necessary route changes or additional students being added to the route.
If you have any questions, please contact the Transportation Department at (570) 402-1000 x1279
ALTERNATE STOP REQUESTS
The deadline to provide the transportation department an alternative bus stop request for your student(s) for the 2025-2026 school year is July 7, 2025. Bus information for the 2025-2026 school year will be available for parents to review in the beginning of August. Requests for changes or alternative stops will NOT be processed from August 8, 2025 through September 8, 2025. Parents missing the deadline will be responsible for transportation. Requests for changes will be processed again beginning September 9, 2025. The district will review the change requests in priority order and a determination will be sent to you.
Parents/guardians who share equal custody of a child, or parents needing daycare/babysitting before or after school, may need the alternative stop location. However, only one alternative stop can be requested. Alternative stops are only setup in cases of custody agreements or daycare/babysitter. Parents/guardians need to notify the transportation department of alternate addresses if needed. The days for alternative stops must be consistent each week and must be Monday through Friday. Alternating single days will not be accepted.
If you need to make any transportation change requests, you need to complete the Transportation Change Request, which can be found in the Powerschool Parent Portal under Forms and then Transportation Change Request.
BUS SCHEDULES
Bus information including bus number, bus stop location, pickup and drop off times can be found in PowerSchool in the Parent Portal in the beginning of August. Connect-Ed calls will go out notifying when transportation information is available.
Parents who wish to utilize an alternate bus stop location (i.e. daycare/babysitter/custody) must complete the Transportation Change Request through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. This can be found under Student Forms and then Transportation Change Request. Once the form is submitted, it generally takes 48-72 hours for the change to take effect. Parents will be contacted with the updated bus information as well as the start date.
Bus stop locations can be up to ½ mile for high school/middle school students and ¼ mile for elementary and intermediate school students.
Initially, buses will run according to the scheduled bus routes for the first few weeks of school. Changes to the bus routes are possible to accommodate new students or to correct any route problems.
Bus stop pickup and drop off times are just estimates and will be more consistent after the first few weeks of school. Please note there is a 10-minute window, where the bus may be 10 minutes early or 10 minutes late, so plan to be at your child’s bus stop 10 minutes prior to the scheduled pickup/drop off time.
STUDENTS RIDING BUSES OTHER THAN THE BUS STOP ASSIGNED
Students will NOT be permitted to ride a school bus other than the bus or buses assigned to the student by the Transportation Department. A student’s primary transportation to and from their school of attendance will be assigned using the student’s primary place of residence within the Pleasant Valley School District or to/from a daycare/babysitter specified by the parent/guardian prior to the start of the school year. There will be no exceptions to this except for the following:
- Court-ordered dual custody situations
- A student was assigned to an incorrect bus at the start of the school year
- A parent/guardian changes day care/babysitter providers
- A student is reassigned to a new school due to educational program changes
- If a family emergency develops (parents are out of town, working late, medical emergency) the parent/guardian must contact the Transportation Department for approval.
You must complete a Transportation Change Request in the PowerSchool Parent Portal, which is located under Student Forms and then Transportation Change Request. Once the form is submitted, it will take 48-72 hours for the change to take effect. You will be notified of the new bus information as well as the start date.
