The summer resource folders contain resources for students who will be attending grades 4, 5, and 6 in the 2021-2020 school year at PVI to do over the summer. They are organized by grade you will be attending at the start of the school year, and inside each grade level folder, you will find resources broken up by subject area. These resources will help students retain information, practice current knowledge and skills, and get prepared for the start of school in August 2021. While these resources are a great way for students to stay academically fresh over the summer, they are not required to be completed.
PVI MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Pleasant Valley Intermediate School is to inspire all students toward physical, intellectual, emotional, and social growth as lifelong learners.
Pleasant Valley Intermediate School (PVI) is a large intermediate school located in a rural setting between the towns of Gilbert and Kresgeville, Pennsylvania and was established in
2000. Approximately 900 students in grades 4-6 experience many exciting opportunities on a daily basis in an environment that helps our students grow from from cubs to bears. The intermediate school is home to 84 professional staff members and 47 support staff personnel. The building is administered by one Principal, an Assistant Principal and a Dean of Students.
Located in Polk Township, Pleasant Valley Intermediate offers 14 fourth grade, 12 fifth grade and 14 sixth grade classes. The well-rounded curriculum includes Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Health, Art, Technology, Integrated Library, General Music/Chorus and Instrumental Music. Chorus is offered to all grades. Our extra-curricular activities include seasonal musicals, choral/band concerts, a Math Escape Room, Spellbinging Journey, Authors & Artists Night, Family Engagement Nights and various content area based, social service and recreational clubs.
Pleasant Valley Intermediate provides diverse educational settings to meet the educational, social and developmental needs of our student populations. Our students participate in a team learning community model consisting of 2 or 3 homeroom teachers. This dynamic serves to meet the developmental, academic and social needs of Pleasant Valley Intermediate students as they transition from an elementary setting through an intermediate setting, to a middle setting.
STUDENT SERVICES AT PVI
The goal of the Pleasant Valley Intermediate School is to create and maintain a support system that enables all children to meet with success. Determining what works for each child through the collaborative efforts of the school, home and community accomplish this process. We believe that all children belong and learn best with their age appropriate peers. We also believe that it is our responsibility to educate all our children in an optimal educational environment that addresses their academic, social and emotional needs. Children identified as having special needs will receive additional support through special education teachers working with the classroom teacher. In this way, all children can benefit while learning to appreciate diversity.
Pleasant Valley Intermediate also offers school counseling services to all of its students. Our basic concern in the guidance department is to improve each individual’s self-image. Our primary function, in cooperation with the other professional staff, is to promote the physical, intellectual, and moral/ethical maturity in each student.
